We are the Heagys. We met about 7 years ago while Vern was working. He owns his own trivia business and does trivia in local bars. He would host trivia games at a local bar that my friend & I would visit on Tuesday nights after work. At the time, I was a high school Advanced Placement social studies teacher so I would spend many hours after work grading, prepping for the next day, at the copier, etc.  I wouldn’t leave school until at least 5 or 6 pm each night. Every Tuesday, Vern would ask my friend and I if we wanted to play trivia and we would laugh and say that was our day job with students! Week after week, I would look forward to seeing Vern (even though I didn’t find out his name until month later). If my friend couldn’t go with me, I would find another friend who was free on Tuesday nights to frequent the bar with me. Eventually he asked me out and it was all downhill after that! 

 

Our first vacation together was to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico in January 2017. Vern got an email with a bargain deal for a timeshare deal where we gave up a few hours one morning to listen to their sales pitch. In return, we got a killer deal on a room and the all inclusive portion of our stay. During the presentation, I had no problem saying no to purchasing a several thousand dollar timeshare. Vern, on the other hand, loves a good deal and negotiating. What do you know, we were proud owners of a timeshare in Mexico. (More about our timeshare and pre-RVing traveling later). 

 

This was immediately after the meltdown when I saw the cost of a timeshare. No joke.

We got married in June 2017 in Vegas. When determining what was most important for our wedding, having a small intimate wedding was our top priority. We have attended several large weddings and that just wasn’t us! We are very much low stress people. Probably our most stressful portion was writing our own vows. We opted for Vegas after stumbling upon www.themobileminister.com who officiates weddings wherever you want. We splurged on a suite at the Flamingo Hotel on the strip. We are “those people” who got married by Elvis. It was absolutely perfect!

We lived in Lancaster, PA, home of the Amish. We stayed in the Lancaster area to spend time with Vern’s daughter, now an adult, and rebuild our trivia business due to the pandemic.

As we transitioned into RV living, we parked ourselves in Elizabethtown, PA to rebuild business, tend to life and get ready for a life of adventure! We adopted Mello the Mutt in late February 2022 and she's looking forward to hitting the road with us!
